BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's tennis team will close out its four-match homestand Friday against Laredo Community College, before returning to Southland Conference play at Central Arkansas.
The Cardinals enter Friday's match having won four straight, and looking to protect their perfect home record. Big Red is a perfect 7-0 in matches played in Beaumont this season. LU has posted 10 wins with just under a month remaining in the season. That's the most wins for a Cardinals' squad since it recorded 11 during the 2013 campaign.
Friday's match against Laredo is slated to begin at 10 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
Following the match, the Cardinals will board the bus and head to Conway, Ark., to take on Central Arkansas in a Southland Conference match. The Sugar Bears are 13-3 (.813) on the season, and currently lead the Southland Conference with a 2-0 record, but have found wins a little tough to come by lately.
After winning 12 of their first 13 matches, the Sugar Bears have lost two of their past three, but are coming off a 4-0 win against Alabama State earlier this week.
UCA is currently just a match up on the Cardinals in the loss column. The Red and White enter the weekend 10-4 (.714) overall, and 3-1 (.750) in SLC matches. The Cardinals are currently in a three-way tie for third in the Southland standings. Sunday's match will begin at 11 a.m. from Conway.
The Cardinals will remain on the road when they travel to Lafayette, La., to take on Northwestern State in a makeup match from one that got rained out in Beaumont earlier this season. The makeup is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
