BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar attempted a comeback bid after the Lady Cardinals lost the doubles point, but McNeese State held on to win the match 4-3 in Southland Conference action at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

McNeese (6-4, 2-0 Southland Conference) won the doubles point on courts two and three, and went unfinished in game one. Anna Spengler and Andrea Ivanovic fell to Julia Kral and Hannah Bret 8-1 on court two while Hanna Elfving and Stephanie Marchena fell to Sarah Jurakova and Vivien Borbley 8-3 on line three.

Carolina Maso and Katya Lapayeva went unfinished with Klaudia Gawlik and Anastasija Trubich on court one.

Ivanovic improved her singles season record to 3-8 on a 6-3, 6-3 win over Brett in position three. Maso, who won both of her singles matches on the weekend, downed Borbely 6-2, 6-2 on position four. LU's final win in the match was Marchena's 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win over Andreea Nenu on line six. She improved to 3-3 in singles action.

Gawlik defeated Lapayeva on line one, 6-1, 6-3. On court two, Spengler forced a third game, but fell to Kral 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Elfving fell to Jurakova 6-2, 6-1.

The Lady Cardinals exit Southland Conference play for three games, all on the road. They travel to South Carolina-Upstate on March 17 at 2 o'clock, Mercer on March 19 at 2:00 and Louisiana-Lafayette on March 25 at 2 o'clock. Lamar returns to league play on March 28 it heads to Central Arkansas at 11:00.
