Final Stats

BEAUMONT, Texas - Carolina Maso pulled out a win in singles action, but Nicholls finished out the match after it took the doubles point in a 6-1 win over the Lamar women's tennis team on Saturday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center in Southland Conference action.

Maso took her court four victory over Milou Pietersz 6-3, 6-3, and improved to 5-4 in singles action this season. She is 4-2 on court four. Lamar fell to 3-7 and 0-3 in league play while Nicholls improved to 6-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in league play.

Anna Spenlger and Andrea Ivanovic teamed up for a doubles match win on court two, but Nicholls took courts one and three to grab a 1-0 lead. Spengler and Ivanovic downed Isla Brock and Kateryna Nakonechna 8-3. Katya Laypeva and Maso fell on court one to Stephanie Barnett and Klara Skopac 8-3 and Marie Aubert and Milou Pietersz defeated Stephanie Marchena and Hanna Elfving, 8-6.

On singles court one, Barnett overcame Lapayeva, 6-3, 7-5, and Skopac defeated Spengler 7-5, 2-6, 13-11 on court two in a match that went back-and-forth. Aubert had a 6-4, 7-5 win over Ivanovic 6-4, 7-5.

Brock and Emma Kranendonk rounded out the match with wins on court five and six, respectively. Brock defeated Elfving 6-3, 6-3, and Kranedonk defeated Marchena 7-5, 6-2.

The Lady Cards continue Southland Conference play on Sunday at noon on Sunday before opening a four-game road swing that feature three non-conference opponents.
