        BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar men's and women's tennis teams combined for two sweeps and        four wins in two doubleheaders over Alcorn State Sunday at the Thompson Family Tennis        Center in nonconference action.
        The men's team (5-2) won the morning match 7-0 while the women (3-2) pushed across a 5-2        result. In the afternoon matches, the Cards won 4-1 and Lady Cards 6-0.
        The guys were 14-1 in all matches (singles and doubles) on Sunday, and Steven        McMullan led the way with a 4-0 record. He had two wins each in singles and doubles        play.
        Mikko        Rajamaki and Benny        Schweizer were each 3-0 on the day followed by Nikita        Lis, Michael        Feucht, Jeandre        Hoogenboezem and Juuso Latitinen, who were all 2-0.
        Lamar took the doubles points quickly in game one as ASU was not able to get past four        points in any match. The 29th-ranked duo of Feucht and Lis downed Mikita Kostikov and        Ernesto Santillan, 6-1. Laitinen and Schweizer defeated Nischay Rawal and Vasudev        Vijayaraman, 6-2 on court two and Trey        Crysel and McMullan beat Garry Amor and Kilian Salgado on court three, 6-4.
        After sweeps from all the men, Lamar walked away from match one with a 7-0 win. Lis        defeated Santillan 6-3, 6-2 (court one), Schweizer overcame Kostikov 6-3, 6-3 (court two),        Hoogenboezem beat Nischay 6-2, 6-3 (court three), Rajamaki downed Vijayaraman 2-6, 6-2,        10-3 (court 4), McMullan got past Amor 6-4, 6-1 and Crysel wrapped it up with a 6-4, 6-2        victory over Salgado.
        The Cards claimed the doubles point in the second match on Hoogenboezem's and Rajamaki's        6-3 win over Amor and Salgado and Crysel's and McMullan's win over Rawal and Vijayarman,        6-4.
        Feucht won singles court one over Kostikov, 6-2, 6-1 and Laitnen made it 3-0 after his        6-2, 6-1 win over Nischay. McMullan locked up the victory on a 6-2, 6-4 victory over        Kilian.
        Three Lady Cardinals played to 3-0 sweeps in the doubleheader, Katya        Lapayeva, Carolina Maso and Anna        Spengler. Stephanie        Marchena, Teodora        Stefanovic and Hanna        Elfving were all 2-0, and Andrea        Ivanovic and Lara        Delli Castelli were both 2-1.
        The Lady Cardinals took the doubles point in the first match after Spenger and Marchena        blanked Siobhan Ryan-Bovey and Patricia Normand, 6-0. Soon after Lapayeva and Elfving        wrapped up their match and doubles on a 6-3 win over Ekaterina Potopova and Aakanksha        Punj.
        Despite the doubles win, Maso and Andrea        Ivanovic elected to continue their match and won a nail biter over Ivana Boberic and        Aida Kelic, 7-6 (1).
        Singles wins for Lapayeva, Spengler, Maso and Stefanovic gave Lamar the 5-2 victory.        Lapayeva downed Boberic 6-3, 6-1 in position one, Spengler beat Potopova 6-4, 6-0 in the        third spot, Maso defeated Ryan Bovey 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at court four and Stefanovic overcame        Normand, 6-4 6-2 on the fifth line.
        Both teams decided to bypass the doubles point unless a tiebreaker was needed, and LU        went on to sweep the singles points. Ivanovic moved up to the first court and defeated        Boberic 6-4, 6-4. Court two saw Lapayeva take down Kelic 6-1, 6-2 while court three had        Maso and Potopova end in a 6-1, 6-3 scored.
        Spengler downed Ryan-Bovey 6-3, 6-4 on line four, Elfving overcame Normand 6-0, 6-0 and        Marchena defeated Punj 6-4, 6-3.
        The Lady Cards return to the courts on Saturday when the travel to Samford and follow        that win another match at UAB on Sunday. The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday as        well at Texas-San Antonio.
