Lady Cards fall 4-0 at Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Northwestern State grabbed the doubles point and never looked back on Friday as the Lamar women's tennis team fell 4-0 at Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

With the loss, LU dropped to 7-13 on the season with a 4-7 league mark, and NSU improved to 16-5 and 9-1, respectively.

Aliona Ladutska and Daniela Simonova got it started for the Lady Demons with an 8-3 decision over Katya Lapayeva and Anna Spengler at No. 3 doubles. Dariya Dashutina and Hanna Elfving were unable to hold off the advantage as they ultimately fell 8-5 to Natalya Krutova and Kateryna Piatakova.

In singles, Polina Konop handed Dashutina a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 1 to double the NSU advantage, and Tatiana Larina added to it a few moments later with a 6-2, 6-3 victory vs. Carolina Mas&oacute; at No. 2. Anna Spengler fell 6-2, 6-2 in the fifth spot to Ladutska to bring the match to a close.

Both Alicia Porte and Lapayeva trailed on their respective courts, and Hanna Elfving's match with Simonova was headed to a decisive third set after the two split the opening two.

LU will close out the regular season on Saturday at Stephen F. Austin, and first serve is scheduled for noon.
