Box Score

BEAUMONT – Wayne Stanley and Justin Eckols each had two-hit days on Friday evening, but unfortunately for the Lamar baseball team, the duo was unable to push a run across as the Cardinals fell 4-0 to visiting Harvard at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

Chase Angelle made the start on the mound for LU and gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings to pick up his second loss of the year. Andrew Beasley, Derek Wade and Zach Aitken combined to toss the final three frames with the latter surrendering the other Harvard score.

As a team LU was out-hit by the visitors from the Ivy League 11-8.

Harvard scored two runs in the second as Ethan Ferreira got things going with a one out double to left. Consecutive singles from Tanner Anderson, Carlton Bailey and Mitch Klug scored the runs before Kyle Larrow grounded into a fielder’s choice to allow Angelle to escape with the bases loaded.

Angelle would give up another in the fourth on a Larrow single before leaving the game at the end of six.

The Cardinals will look to rebound on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Crimson at Vincent-Beck Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
