Box Score

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Carolina Salas registered the only point for the Lamar University women's tennis team in a 6-1 loss to 43rd-ranked Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference match Wednesday.

Salas ran her winning streak at No. 1 singles to four matches with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Elena Kordolaimi. With the win, Salas boosted her singles record to 8-3 on the season, all at No. 1 singles.

Stephen F. Austin (13-2 overall, 4-0 Southland) swept the doubles competition and the remaining five singles matches.

"SFA is a very solid team, as they replaced all but one of their players from last season," Lamar coach David Wong said. "Five very mature players played against us, but at least our No. 1 player, Carolina Salas, fought as a true Cardinal and took that match."

Lamar (4-7, 2-3) hosts a pair of matches Saturday. The Lady Cardinals take on Southeastern Louisiana in a Southland Conference contest at 10 a.m. before facing Texas-Pan American at 3 p.m. in a non-conference match.

Admission to all of Lamar's home tennis matches is free.
