Lady Cardinals roll over McNeese State

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over visiting McNeese State in a Southland Conference match Friday.

The Lady Cardinals (4-5 overall, 2-2 Southland) opened the day by sweeping the doubles competition before taking five of the six singles matches from the Cowgirls (1-9, 0-4).

Alessandra Pennesi won her seventh straight singles match for Lamar, taking a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Marcella Castaldi at No. 5 singles. Carolina Salas, Natalia Mayagoitia, Carolina Maso and Helene Czudek also won their singles matches for the Lady Cardinals.

Lamar hosts South Alabama at 11 a.m. Sunday in a non-conference match. Admission is free.
