Carenn Baylor posted career highs for points and rebounds, but the Lamar University women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 61-51 Southland Conference loss at Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday.

Baylor finished with career bests of 14 points and nine rebounds for Lamar (15-12 overall, 7-6 Southland). Kalis Loyd had a team-high 17 points to move into sole possession of sixth place on Lamar's all-time list with 1,358 points. Danielle Heithoff matched her career high with 11 rebounds.

Baylor's 3-pointer a little more than three minutes into the game gave Lamar a quick 9-2 lead, but the Lady Cardinals couldn't take advantage of the early momentum. Lamar was 9-of-32 from the field each half as it shot 28.1 percent (18-of-64) for the game. The Lady Cardinals were just 2-of-10 from 3-point range.

Stephen F. Austin (19-7, 9-4) led 30-25 at halftime and opened the second half with an 8-3 run to take a 38-28 lead with 15:37 remaining. Lamar would never get closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Tammara Marion led the Ladyjacks in scoring with 11 points. Stephen F. Austin shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) for the game.

Lamar, which needs just one win in its final three remaining games to ensure a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, hosts Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. Saturday.
