Women's tennis comes up big vs. Prairie View

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 7-0 victory over visiting Prairie View A&M in a non-conference match Saturday.

The Lady Cardinals didn't lose a set on the day, and lost just 13 games over the six singles and three doubles matches.

Mariaryeni Gutierrez at No. 1 singles, Kalttrina Harbuzi at second singles and Helene Czudek at No. 6 singles all claimed 6-0, 6-0 triumphs.

"I was very impressed that we gave up just 13 games on the day," Lamar coach David Wong said. "We were focused today and we really played well."

Prairie View A&M fell to 3-5 on the season.

Lamar returns to action at 10 a.m. Sunday when it hosts Arkansas State in a non-conference match.
