Lady Cards Fall to 10th-Ranked Texas A&M

Jan. 4, 2010

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Jenna Plumley scored a game-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough for the Lamar University women's basketball team as it dropped a 90-57 decision to 10th-ranked Texas A&M in a non-conference game Monday night.

Kalis Loyd added 13 points for Lamar (10-4), which suffered its second loss against a nationally ranked team this season. The Lady Cardinals fell to eighth-ranked Baylor in November.

"Texas A&M is a very good team," Lamar coach Larry Tidwell said. "This type of game will get us ready for the Southland Conference schedule."

Danielle Adams led Texas A&M (12-1) with 17 points. Tanisha Smith had 15 points and Tyra White added 13 points for the Aggies, who ran their winning streak to five games.

Texas A&M held a 56-35 rebounding advantage for the game.

"They're long and athletic," Tidwell said of the Aggies. "We knew we would have trouble against them."

Lamar returns to action at 2:05 p,m, Saturday when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana in the Montagne Center in the Southland Conference opener for both teams. The game will be broadcast live on Lamar's athletic Web site: www.lamarcardinals.com.
