ARLINGTON, Texas - Jenna Plumley poured in a career-high 26 points to lead the Lamar Lady University women's basketball team to a 67-63 come-from-behind victory over UT Arlington in a Southland Conference game Wednesday evening.
Plumley, whose previous career high was 24 points came against Baylor, sealed the win with two free throws with 10.1 seconds remaining as the Lady Cardinals (12-4 overall, 2-0 conference) rallied from a 15-point first-half deficit.
Brittney Williams added 17 points for Lamar as she moved past LaToya Carson for fifth place on Lamar's all-time scoring list with 1,362 points. Barbara Hickey is fourth with 1,370 points, Traversa Grant is third with 1,372 points.
Trashanna Smith led Lamar with nine rebounds.
Tamara Simmons led UTa Arlington (6-9, 1-1) with 19 points, but was held without a point in the second half. Meghan Nelson added 17 points for the Mavericks.
"We fought hard and battled back," Lamar coach Larry Tidwell said. "This was a very good win for us."
Lamar returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when it travels to McNeese State for a Southland Conference game. The Lady Cardinals return home at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a conference game.
