Lamar scored a season-high 16 runs, including 10 in the sixth inning to defeat New York Tech, 16-0, in seven innings in the final game of the Lamar Classic at Vincent-Beck Stadium Sunday.
Lamar (9-4) was leading 6-0 before sending 14 men to the plate and collecting four hits on two errors that led to eight unearned runs. The Cardinals were also the beneficiaries of a season-high 10 walks and two hit batters by the Bear pitching staff on the day.
Designated hitter Brent Harris went 2-for-5 with three RBI on a single and a double - both of which came in the sixth. First baseman Steven Tucker also had two hits and third baseman Chris Dunkin was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, two runs scored and an RBI.
Rightfielder Logan Pace made his second career start and hit an RBI double in his first at-bat that gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the second. He also walked twice and scored three runs - the most by a Cardinal this season.
Lamar left the bases loaded in the fourth after Tyler Link gave the Cardinals a 5-0 lead with 2-run single back up the middle.
Brian Sisk (3-0) struck out seven, walked two and allowed just two hits in tossing his first complete game of the season. It was the first solo shutout for a Lamar pitcher this season and the second of his career as a Cardinal.
George Carroll had both hits for NY Tech (1-3) with a leadoff double in the fifth and a two-out single in the seventh.
Lamar will play host to Buffalo on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. CDT.
