Box Score
Currye Todd scored a season-high 22 and Justin Nabors posted his fifth double-double of the season as Lamar ran its win streak to nine games with a 73-58 win over Central Arkansas at the Montagne Center Thursday night.
Todd's total surpassed his previous high of 17 which he had two previous times, most recently at UCA on Jan. 24. The leading 3-point shooter in the Southland Conference coming in, he was 3-for-8 from outside with at least three that were half-way down before coming out.
Nabors did much of his damage in the first half as he scored 15 of his 17 in just 13 minutes in the opening period. He finished with a game-high 12 rebounds after missing the first meeting with the Bears with a shoulder injury.
Lamar (16-8, 10-1 Southland) led by as many as 12 in the first half before taking a 31-28 lead into the locker room. The Cardinals scored the first 11 points of the second half and used a 24-6 run over the first 10 minutes to gain a comfortable 55-34 lead.
UCA (13-13, 3-9) shot just 35 percent and was never able to get any closer than 12 points the rest of the way. Nate Bowie led all players with 26 points and four assists.
Lamar shot 42 percent and was 19-of-24 from the free throw line, while also parlaying a 20-13 second-half rebounding edge into a 37-36 overall margin on the glass. Lamar Sanders had 11 points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks. In addition to Nabors points off the bench, Brandon McThay added 10 and Ashton Hall had one - for his first points since Dec. 29 - as Lamar's reserves outscored UCA's 28-5.
Lamar's nine-game winning streak is now the fifth-longest streak in school history. The Cards are also 12-2 at home this season and have rattled-off 11-consecutive victories in the Montagne Center. Lamar is now 23-5 at home and 12-2 in SLC home contests under second-year coach Steve Roccaforte.
Lamar will look to improve upon those numbers on Saturday when it plays host to Northwestern State (12-14, 8-4) at 7 p.m.
