Results

EL Paso, Texas - The Lady Cardinal tennis team wrapped up their weekend in El Paso against UT-Pan American on Sunday, winning 6-1 over the Lady Broncs.

Lamar won the doubles point as Martinez and Ashrafi posted an 8-4 win over Stephanie Willerding and Garcia, while Gutierrez and Kuroda combined for an 8-4 win over Megan Bedeau Silke Buksik. UTEP was able to pick up one double win, as Julia Cirne-Lima and Gina Oliveira posted and 8-4 win over LU's tandem of Harbuzi and Roberts.

In singles play the Lady Cardinals won five of the six matches, led by Harbuzi's 6-0, 6-3 win over Cirne-Lima at No. 1. Gutierrez knocked off Willerding 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 while Martinez posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bedeau in the four spot. At number five, Ashrafi was victorious over Buksik 6-2, 6-0 and Kuroda was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Sarah Burton.

The lone win for UTPA came at number two singles, as Oliveira handed Roberts a 7-6 (4), 6-3 loss.

The Lady Cards will be in action again on Friday, February 16, when they take on Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette, La. at 1 p.m.
