Lady Cardinals Post 7-0 win over UT-Pan American

BEAUMONT - The Lamar Lady Cardinal tennis team posted their third win of the 2006 season Saturday, taking down the Broncos of Texas-Pan American 7-0 in Edinburg, Texas.

In number one singles Andrea Martinez dropped Silke Buksik 6-0, 6-1, while Tara Shelander won a tough match over UTPA's Marine de Bourqueney at No. 2 singles winning 2-6, 6-4, 1-0. At the number three spot Tanya Roberts posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sheila Mabulac, and in the fourth spot Pamela Martinez won 6-4, 6-2 over Elysia Sloan.

At No. 5, Maria Gutierrez dropped Nicole Garcia dropped her match 6-2, 6-1, and in the No.6 six position Kendall Gibbs posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jessica Nanez.

In doubles action the Lady Cardinals swept pat the Broncos, with an 8-0 win by Andrea Martinez and Shelander, an 8-3 win by Roberts and Pamela Martinez, and an 8-2 win by Gutierrez and Gibbs.

The lady Cards will be in action again Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they take on Centenary at the Cardinal Courts.
