Dec. 20, 2006

OKLAHOMA CITY - Former University of Oklahoma basketball coach Billy Tubbs, who is in his fifth-year as the Director of Athletics at Lamar University, will be inducted into the All-College Hall of Fame.

A native of Tulsa, Tubbs was honored at the annual All-College Dinner Wednesday night and during the All-College Basketball Classic Thursday.

Tubbs spent 14 years as head coach at OU and led the Sooners to nine NCAA tournaments and to the 1988 championship game. In 30 years as a head coach, Tubbs posted a 624-326 (.657) career record. He became the 28th coach in NCAA Division I history to record 600 career wins during the 2003-04 season and is one of just nine coaches to win 100 games at three different schools (Oklahoma, Lamar and TCU).

The 71st All-College Basketball Classic features OU playing Tulsa Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and then 15th-ranked Oklahoma State playing No. 2 Pittsburgh at 6 p.m.
