James Wood joined the Lamar University Sports Medicine Staff in 2019 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. His primary sport coverage will be the Cardinal football team.

Wood graduated from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia in May 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training and a minor in Sports Medicine. In his senior year, Wood mainly worked with the Concord football and softball teams. Wood also served as a preseason intern with the Houston Texans in 2018 and 2019.

Wood is a nationally certified athletic trainer and a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Kinesiology at Lamar University.
