BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University's 2026-27 athletic season starts Wednesday as the soccer team will host Blinn College in an exhibition contest at the LU Soccer Complex. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
 
The Cardinals return 18 members from last season's squad. Among those that will be on the pitch are All-SLC second-teamers Kamdyn Jalayer and Sydney Williams. Last season, Jalayer finished third in the conference with seven assists, and recorded a league-high six assists in 10 conference contests.

Williams scored two goals and dished out a pair of assists while helping LU's defense to five shutouts. LU returns its two goalkeepers – Eloise Bywater (57 saves) and Maddie Rich (15 saves) – who combined for 72 saves and a goals against average of 1.39. In addition, the Cardinals are adding 11 newcomers to the team.

This will be the first of two warm-up contests during preseason as LU will be hosting UL Monroe Sunday.
