FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University senior Keely Thomas' third shutout victory of the season has earned her Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors, league officials announced Tuesday morning. It marks her second weekly honor of the season.
Leading Big Red to a 1-0 win over then conference-leading UIW, Thomas (Richmond, Va.) recorded four saves, including three in the second half. She turned away an 85th-minute game-tying attempt by the other Cardinals. The win propelled Lamar into first place in the league standings.
Thomas currently leads the conference in goals-against average (0.51) and is second in save percentage (.875). Both stats rank in the top 20 nationally at 20th and 14th, respectively.
Big Red returns to action Thursday when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the LU Soccer Complex. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
