Lamar Hosts Dedication for Teri and Glen Morgan Baseball Complex

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – It was a special day at Lamar University Saturday as the Cardinals hosted the dedication ceremony for the new state-of-the-art Teri and Glen Morgan Baseball Complex located at Vincent-Beck Stadium. The ceremony came between the Cardinals doubleheader Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana in a battle of two first-place teams.

The new facility, which was announced in November 2024, held the groundbreaking the following March.

"Not long ago, we were standing not far from here with hard hats and shovels, talking about the future. Today, we're standing inside the present and it was absolutely worth the wait," said LU Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeff O'Malley. "None of this happens without belief and generosity. Teri and Glen, your commitment to Lamar University Athletics is unmatched. This building carries your name because of your vision for the future of this program. You've given Lamar baseball a true home and a powerful recruiting advantage for generations to come," added O'Malley.

The new 8,500-square foot building consists of a new locker room – complete with backlit LU on the ceiling and multiple flatscreen TVs, coaches' offices, training room, film room, equipment room and lounge. Entering the building through the front lobby there is a hall of fame celebrating LU's history on the diamond.

"From the moment someone steps through these doors, this facility sends a clear message about who we are and where Lamar Baseball is headed. It's a place where our student-athletes can prepare, recover, and come together as a team. And for a recruit visiting campus it makes one thing clear Lamar Baseball is serious, invested and first-class. What makes this building even more meaningful is the tradition it represents. Lamar University Baseball has a rich and proud history built by generations of players, coaches, and teams who competed the right way and wore the Lamar name with pride."

The Cardinals, who are coming off back-to-back 40-win seasons, entered Saturday's doubleheader against Southeastern Louisiana in a tie for first place. The series opener, which was originally set for Friday evening was pushed to Saturday due to the rains that hit the area (forcing a doubleheader). The Southland standings are a log jam entering the weekend with the top five teams all within 3.5 games of each other and seven teams still with a mathematical shot at the tie.
