Isabella Flores has become the first Cardinal to be named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore
Sicily Windham has also been honored by the conference as the shortstop on the league's All-Defensive team.

Flores (Wylie, Texas) is coming off a regular season in which she leads Big Red in hits (61), batting average (.372), slugging percentage (.628), doubles (16), runs scored (46) and breaking the single-season RBI record with 49, while being second in on-base percentage (.439) and home runs (eight). She also broke the school's career record for most walk-off RBIs with seven, having contributed three walk-off hits this season. Flores even tied a school record with seven RBI in one game against East Texas A&M (3/21/26) and reached base in 19 consecutive games (2/27/26-3/27/26). In addition, she was tabbed as SLC Hitter of the Week while earning national honors as D1Softball.com Mid-Major Freshman of the Week.
Windham (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has earned her first all-conference honor after compiling a .969 fielding percentage with 55 putouts, 102 assists with just five errors in 162 chances at short. She was also involved in five double plays. Offensively, Windham hit .264 with 33 hits, 25 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and one home run (at ETAMU).
LU (30-22, 16-11 SLC) finished fifth in the league standings and will head to Hammond, La. to open SLC tournament play. The first round matchup pits Big Red against UIW Thursday, which will start at 1 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
