BEAUMONT, Texas — Coming off a three-game sweep of Northwestern State this past weekend, Lamar University enters the week atop the Southland Conference standings.

The Cardinals hit the road for four games in five days, beginning with a midweek contest Wednesday at South Alabama.
KEEPING TABS ON TAB: Tab Tracy remains the offensive leader with a .344 average, 54 hits, .441 on-base percentage, .842 OPS, 15 multi-hit games and 17 stolen bases … Tracy finished 7 for 15 (.467) during the series against Northwestern State with two doubles … His 20-game on-base streak was the 12th by a Lamar hitter since 2010 to reach 20 or more games.

OFFENSIVE LEADER: Beau Durbin leads the team with 169 at-bats, 31 runs, 11 doubles, four home runs, 28 RBIs, seven multi-RBI games and a .438 slugging percentage … Durbin also ranks second on the team with 47 hits, and his 15-game hitting streak was the longest of the season … Durbin is on an eight-game hitting streak with four doubles and six RBIs during the span.

SPARKING THINGS UP: Lane Sparks posted a 12-game on-base streak, collecting two triples, three home runs and nine RBIs during that span … Sparks leads the team with three triples and ranks third with eight stolen bases … He is also second with a .436 slugging percentage.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: A.J. Taylor ranks third on the team with 44 hits and is second with a .288 average, nine stolen bases and 14 multi-hit games … Taylor went 6 for 14 (.429) during the series against Northwestern State, extending his on-base streak to six games … Kevin Duran ranks second with 23 RBIs and third with a .408 slugging percentage … Braden Benton continues to lead the team with 29 walks.

HOME RUN TRACKER: LU has hit 20 home runs this season, with 13 coming on the road … LU has six home runs at home for the season.

ACE OF THE STAFF: Chris Olivier is 5-2 with a 1.76 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 61.1 innings this season … He has posted double-digit strikeouts in four of six home starts, compiling 58 strikeouts and allowing just four earned runs at home … Olivier ranks in the top 25 nationally in strikeouts (tied for 16th) and ERA (14th).

SOLID FRESHMAN: Jarret Williams has posted a 2.79 ERA in nine starts and 10 appearances with 39 strikeouts in 38.2 innings pitched … He did not allow an earned run in his first five collegiate outings.

PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS: Fabian Ramirez has only allowed two earned runs in 13 appearances while sporting a 1.20 ERA in 15 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts … Travis Lutz ranks third on the team with 37 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched with a 2.45 ERA … The LU pitching staff combined for 42 strikeouts during the series against Northwestern State, marking the first time the staff recorded 40 or more strikeouts in a three-game set since hosting Binghamton in 2022.   LU vs. South Alabama: The Cardinals are 6-15 all-time against the Jaguars since the series began in 1975 … LU's last road victory at South Alabama came in 1994, and the two teams last met during the 2024 season.
