BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University is currently 4-0 in this current seven-game homestand and winners of their last 10 games to sit in second place in the Southland Conference standings. As Easter weekend approaches, the Cardinals will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday (12/2 at 12 p.m.) and Saturday (noon). Friday's doubleheader will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals (21-15, 8-4 SLC) swept Nicholls to leap into second place in the standings. Reagan Smith pitched a complete-game shutout, 5-0, in Game 1. Riley Whitley delivered a walk-off two-run double in the eighth inning to win 3-1 in Game 2. Cala Wilson's three-run homer in Game 3 sparked a 7-2 victory.
 
STREAKING INTO DOUBLE DIGITS
The Cardinals' current 10-game win streak is now the longest in program history. Previously, the 2016 squad held the record with a nine-game win streak (Feb. 14-Feb. 27). Over the last 10 games, LU has outscored the opposition 90-36, batted .385 with 107 hits and 80 RBIs.
 
SEVEN TIME WALK-OFF CHAMP X 4
Riley Whitley's walk-off double Friday marked the seventh time this season the Cardinals either won or ended a game in its last at-bat. This ties the mark previously held by the 2013 and 2017 teams. Whitley is also the fourth Cardinal this season to record a walk-off hit, along with Gracee Hess (three), Isabella Flores (two) and Kinlee McGuire. The 2017 team holds the mark with five players having a walk-off hit.

A&M-Corpus Christi (10-26, 4-8 SLC) is coming off its fourth straight loss after a 6-1 defeat to Houston. The Islanders are led by Skylar Heger with a team high in hits (26), RBIs (19), doubles (six) and home runs (two). In the circle, Kendra Winfrey has seven wins and has struck out a team-high 63 batters while pitching four complete games.
