BEAUMONT, Texas – Myo Baxter-Bell has been named to the Lamar University coaching staff announced head coach Jordan Fee Monday Morning.
"We are thrilled to welcome Myo Baxter-Bell to our staff," said LU head coach Jordan Fee. "Myo had a standout playing career followed by coaching experience at Liberty University and valuable Division I experience most recently at Longwood. Having been a part of our first staff at Gannon University, I've seen firsthand the impact he can make on a program. Myo has a unique ability to teach the game while genuinely connecting with players on and off the court. His energy, authenticity, and commitment to development make him an outstanding addition to our staff. Please join me in welcoming Coach Baxter-Bell to Beaumont."
Baxter-Bell makes his way to the Golden Triangle from Farmville, Va., where he spent the past two seasons on staff with the Longwood Lancers. Baxter-Bell made a similar jump to the NCAA Division I level to that of Fee moving to Longwood after one season at Gannon University.
During his time with the Golden Knights, he helped coach a PSAC regular-season and tournament champion squad that would advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. Baxter-Bell made the move to GU after spending two seasons on staff at Liberty – his alma mater – where he got his start in coaching.
Baxter-Bell transitioned to the sidelines after a season of playing professional basketball in Argentina (San Isidro Club Athletico). He moved into the professional ranks after a standout four-year player career at Liberty where he guided the Flames to two NCAA tournament appearances – including a second-round appearance in 2019, back-to-back ASUN regular-season and tournament titles and was named 2019 Jerry Colangelo Classic MVP and to the 2017 Big South All-Freshman team.
