Cardinals travel to Louisiana Tech for midweek contest

BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University travels to Louisiana Tech on Tuesday for a midweek matchup before returning home to host McNeese in a three‑game Southland Conference series this weekend.

CARDINALS AT A GLANCE

OFFENSIVE LEADER: Beau Durbin leads the Cardinals with 23 hits, 15 runs scored, five doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs and a .522 slugging percentage … Durbin ranks eighth in the conference in hits, is tied for second in triples and sits seventh in at‑bats (67) … He also became just the fifth Cardinal since 2010 to record a 15‑game hitting streak in a single season.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: A.J. Taylor leads the Cardinals with a .345 batting average and a .424 on‑base percentage … Tab Tracy enters the week on a seven‑game hitting streak, a stretch that included the team's first four‑hit performance of the season in Game 2 against Stephen F. Austin … Tracy is 7 for 15 (.467) over his last three games with a double and four RBIs … Braden Benton ranks sixth in the conference with 13 walks and has driven in five runs across his last three contests.

SOLID PITCHING: Chris Olivier has allowed just three runs across his first four starts … He leads the Southland Conference in opposing batting average (.151) while ranking third in ERA (1.09), third in innings pitched (24.2) and second in strikeouts (32).

PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS: A.J. Kostic is tied for second in the conference with three wins while Nathan Darden leads the conference in saves with three.

MIDWEEK SUCCESS: The Cardinals have gone 89-75 in midweek games since 2010 … Last season LU finished 13-3 (8-0 at home and 5-3 on the road).

LU VS. THE TOP 25: The Cardinals will face two more top 25 programs this season — No. 17 TCU and No. 18 Oregon State … LU takes on four top 25 programs this spring which is the most since 2016.

FOLLOWING IN HIS FATHER'S FOOTSTEPS: Jarret Williams hasn't allowed an earned run in 12.2 innings pitched, holding a 0.00 ERA in four appearances and three starts … Jarret is the son of Randy Williams, who played at LU from 1995-97 before enjoying five seasons in the majors with five different teams.
