BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University, riding a current seven-game win streak, currently sits in fourth place in the Southland Conference standings and trails Nicholls by two games. Big Red is set to host Nicholls for its next series at the LU Softball Complex Friday (2/4 p.m.) and Saturday (noon). All games will be streamed on ESPN+.

LU set a season-high with 16 hits and used an eight-run first inning to defeat Houston, 13-5 in six innings Tuesday. Gracee Hess led the way with a career-high four hits and four RBIs while delivering her third walk-off hit of the season.
 
WALKING OFF TO JOIN CARDINAL GREATS
Hess became the second Cardinal to record three walk-off hits in a single season, as she joined Ashley McDowell, who achieved this feat back in 2013 with two homers and a single. Hess has four walk-off hits in her career, which is currently second to both McDowell and Kelly Meeuwsen, who each have five. She's also tied with her teammate Isabella Flores with four walk-off RBIs.
 
DRIVERS…START YOUR RBIs BECAUSE THE RACE IS ON
Flores and Cala Wilson are both on track to break the single-season RBI record of 44 held by Shelby Henderson in 2018. Flores is currently in the lead with 34 after driving in 11 over the last three games, while Wilson has 31.

The Cardinals are currently lead the Southland with 193 RBI after driving in 52 over the last four games. It also marked the first time in history that the program recorded double-figure RBIs in four consecutive contests.

LAST TIME VS. NICHOLLS
In four games last season, the Cardinals went 1-3 versus Nicholls. The one victory was a 12-1 five-inning non-conference win as part of the I-10 Border Classic, which LU hosted with McNeese. Sicily Windham recorded three hits while Wilson picked up three RBIs, including a two-run homer.
 
ABOUT THE COLONELS
Nicholls (19-13, 7-2 SLC) fell, 5-4, to Southern Mississippi Wednesday, but is coming off a series sweep against McNeese and enter the week tied for second in the conference standings with UIW. Nicholls is led by Claire Sisco, who ranks third in the conference in batting average (.393) and hits (42). In the circle, Molly Yoo has won 10 games and struck out 68 batters while recording a 2.82 ERA.
