Makenzie Wright recorded two hits in Sunday's doubleheader, but Lamar University would fall to both Nevada and No. 13 LSU by the score of 8-0 in five innings. The Cardinals end their time in Baton Rouge with two wins against Big Ten opponent, Illinois.
In game one, Wright singled to right field but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double.
Cimara-lei Wessling was the only Cardinal runner left on base when she drew a walk in the bottom of the first inning.
Madison Guidry was tagged with the loss while allowing five runs on seven hits in three innings and striking out a pair.
Wright's second hit of the day was a double against LSU.
Kaylee Cuevas took the loss with 2.1 innings and surrendered four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
LU returns to the action in the McNeese Carl Vincent Insurance Invitational. The Cardinals will have two games against Austin Peay (2/13-11 AM; 2/14-11 AM) and Illinois Chicago (2/13-1:30 PM; 2/14-4 PM).
