BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar returns to the course for the first time in three weeks when it competes at The Robbie, a two-day tournament hosted by Lipscomb.
The tournament begins Monday, Oct. 12, at Temple Hills Country Club in Franklin, Tenn.
HIGHLIGHTING THE SEASON:
- Lamar's fifth-place finish at the Lady Clerico marked the program's first top five finish in the fall season since placing fifth at the Little Rock Golf Classic on Oct. 30, 2018.
- Matilda Samervong leads Lamar with a 74.5 scoring average through six rounds this season.
- Samervong captured medalist honors at the Lady Clerico with a 54-hole score of 217 (71-73-73).
- The total was Lamar's first 54-hole score below 220 since 2024, when Karolina Krasova and Alessia Trebbi-Tindall carded scores of 218 and 215, respectively, at the UT Rio Grande Valley Invitational.
- Samervong also became the first Cardinal to win an individual title since Trebbi-Tindall earned medalist honors at the Cardinal Challenge in 2023.
- Marta Romero Crespo ranks second on the team with a 76.0 scoring average.
- Siria Ballini ranks third on the team with a 77.0 scoring average and owns Lamar's lowest round of the season after firing a 70 in the final round of the Tulane Classic.
- Kamaya Moodliar ranks fourth on the team with a 77.3 scoring average.
- As a team, the Cardinals own a 77.1 scoring average and have recorded three rounds of par or better this season.
GETTING RECOGNIZED:
- Samervong was named Southland Conference Golfer of the Week on Sept. 24, becoming Lamar's first Southland Conference award winner since Elodie Chapelet earned Golfer of the Month honors in February 2019.
- She also became the Cardinals' first golfer to receive a weekly conference honor since Trebbi-Tindall was named Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week in April 2022.
THE ROBBIE PARTICIPANTS: Lipscomb, Tennessee State, Jacksonville University, Bellarmine, North Alabama, Lamar, Tennessee Tech and West Florida.
COURSE INFO: Temple Hills Country Club features 27 holes spread across three nine-hole courses … The Deercrest/Quail Run (6,831 yards), Dogwood/Deercrest (6,774 yards) and Quail Run/Dogwood (6,759 yards) combinations each play as a par-72 layout.
