BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University closes out its fall season Oct. 26-27 at The Judson, a two-day tournament hosted by Southern Miss at Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Lamar finished third among seven teams at The Robbie on Oct. 13 in Franklin, Tenn.
- The Cardinals recorded their first top three finish of the fall season since placing second at the Bearkat Invitational on Oct. 2, 2018, in Magnolia.
- Matilda Samervong led Lamar with a tie for 10th while Kamaya Moodliar and Marta Romero Crespo each tied for 14th.
- Siria Ballini also earned a top 20 finish, tying for 20th.
- Lamar's 160 pars ranked third in the field.
HIGHLIGHTING THE SEASON:
- Samervong leads the Cardinals with a 75.3 scoring average through nine rounds. She also has two top 10 finishes, including a victory at the Lady Clerico.
- Samervong owns Lamar's best 54-hole score of the season after posting a 217 at the Lady Clerico.
- The total marked Lamar's first 54-hole score below 220 since 2024, when Karolina Krasova and Alessia Trebbi-Tindall carded scores of 218 and 215, respectively, at the UT Rio Grande Valley Invitational.
- Samervong also became the first Cardinal to win an individual title since Trebbi-Tindall earned medalist honors at the Cardinal Challenge in 2023.
- Three Cardinals have posted a round of par or better this fall, with Ballini owning the team's lowest round at 70, recorded in the final round of the Tulane Classic.
- Crespo ranks second on the team with a 76.4 scoring average through nine rounds. She also has three top 20 finishes, helping the Cardinals record six this fall.
- Moodliar ranks third on the team with a 77.4 scoring average while Ballini is fourth at 77.5.
- The Cardinals have not recorded two top five finishes during the fall season since 2018.
- Lamar has posted a team scoring average of 78.0.
GETTING RECOGNIZED:
- Samervong was named Southland Conference Golfer of the Week on Sept. 24, becoming Lamar's first Southland Conference award winner since Elodie Chapelet earned Golfer of the Month honors in February 2019.
- She also became the Cardinals' first golfer to receive a weekly conference honor since Trebbi-Tindall was named Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week in April 2022.

COURSE INFO: Hattiesburg Country Club is a par-72 course measuring 6,902 yards from the back tees … The course hosted the PGA Tour's Magnolia State Classic from 1968-93, an event now known as the Sanderson Farms Championship and played in Jackson, Miss.
