NATCHITOCHES, La. - Lamar cross country teams recorded three top-10s and each placed in the top three at the Northwestern State Pre-Southland Conference meet held at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex Friday. In the five-team event, the men took second place with 60 points on the 6,000-meter course, while the women finished third with 88 points on the 4K. 
 
Stephen F. Austin swept both the men's and women's races with 22 and 15 points, respectively. Valetine Jemutai earned first for the women (13:52.91) while Nathan Kapel (18:04.44) was the race winner on the men's side. 
 
At 6:15 p.m., the women's 4K race began. Junior Ashton Rainey and sophomore Anna Eischen were the only two female runners to place in the top 20. Rainey posted a strong finish of fifth at 14:31.6 while Eischen claimed 19th and clocked in four seconds before the 16-minute mark. Hannah Roberts (16:44.07) and Lauren Polk (16:45.56) crossed the line a second apart at 27th and 29th place, respectively. Eleana Campos took 31st after concluding her race at 17:16.54, while Claire Bib (19:08.25) finished as the last LU runner to cross in 36th. 
 
On the men's circuit, Adrian Hahn Vadstein (8th; 19:01.78) and Andres Padron (9th; 19:06.01) led the way for the Cardinals, while Geovany Cisneros was outside the top 10 in 11th (19:09.59). Alexis Rodriguez clocked in a 16th-place time of 19:39.60. The 19th through 23rd spots belonged to a Cardinal with Crawford Kiser (19:51.99), Riley Trent (19:54.55), Ryan Servantes (20:04.94), Treyton Showen (20:22.54) and Jonathan Rivera (20:26.37) finished in that order. Kenny Bibb (26th; 20:34.49), Luke Parker (29th; 20:54.81) and Dominick Luna (32nd; 21:02.52) would round out the rest of LU's runners.

The Cardinals will next run on Saturday, Oct. 4th at the highly competitive Chili Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
