BEAUMONT, Texas — Zane Spinn made his professional debut with the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association of Professional Baseball on Tuesday, June 3.

Spinn was signed by the team the same day as his debut. He went on to tally three plate appearances against the Chicago Dogs.

He wrapped up his collegiate career with Lamar University batting .315 in 57 starts with 222 at-bats, 36 runs scored, 70 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 49 RBIs and a .450 slugging percentage.

Defensively, he had a .946 fielding percentage.

Spinn previously attended UTSA in 2024 where he played in 36 games while tallying 90 plate appearances with 24 hits, two home runs, 17 runs scored and 12 RBIs.

He was at Sam Houston State prior to UTSA.

A former two-time district offensive most valuable player at Holland High School, Spinn began his collegiate career at Temple College where he hit .337 with 55 hits and 38 RBIs during his sophomore season.

The American Association is an independent professional league that was founded in 2005. Five years ago, the league joined a partnership with Major League Baseball.

The league has teams from nine different states (Texas, North Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota) as well as Winnipeg, a city in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Cleburne, which joined the American Association in 2017, is one of 12 teams in the league that is split into an east and west division.

Pete Incaviglia, who played for 12 seasons in the MLB, is the manager of the Railroaders. Incaviglia was the eighth overall pick in the 1985 draft after setting numerous NCAA records at Oklahoma State.

Cleburne went 60-40 last season, finishing first in the east division.
