Cards come up short in Game 3 with Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. — During Game 3 on Sunday afternoon, Lamar University came up short, 7-4, to Southeastern Louisiana at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

After two straight singles to start the bottom of the second, Ben Robichaux hit a one-out RBI single up the middle to get the Lions on the board.

Tab Tracy reached on a throwing error by the shortstop to start off the top of the third. Reese Beheler later delivered the game-tying two-out RBI single up the middle.

The Lions took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run home run to right off the bat of Cole Stromboe.

SLU pushed across two more runa on a pair of fielding errors.

LU cut the deficit to two runs in the top of the sixth. With one out, the Cards loaded up the bases as Matt Ryan was hit by a pitch, Tracy drew a walk and Bryce Grizzaffi singled to center.

Damian Ruiz brought in Ryan with a sacrifice fly to right and then Brayden Evans followed up with an RBI single to center.

The Lions extended their lead to 7-3 with a two-RBI single through the left side by Stromboe.

Beheler cut the deficit to three runs with an RBI double down the right field line in the top of the eighth.
