CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Lamar University dropped a long match to rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 5-2, Monday afternoon at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Complex. The setback saw three four matches go to a third set and included three sets that went to a tiebreak before being decided.
Lamar jumped out to an early lead taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. The duo of junior

Fabian Anthin defeated A&M-Corpus Christi's Tom Berry and Harry Fouzas, 6-3, at No. 1. The point was clinched moments later when LU's
Leon Nickel and Haruki Omorie-Cowie got passed Omar Suarez and Etienne Marty, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot.
Unfortunately, the Islanders picked up three of the four three-set contests. Lamar's lone singles win came from freshman
Louis Drapeau at the No. 5 position where he ousted the Islanders' Etienne Marty, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
Big Red will look to get back in the win column Saturday, April 12
th when the return home to host New Orleans. The match against the Privateers is slated for a 2 p.m. start from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
