BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University volleyball's 2025 fall schedule was released Tuesday afternoon.
LU has 13 home matches, which includes the season-opening exhibition match against Texas State on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Head coach
Ariel Apolinario, who enters his second season at the helm, is looking forward to how his team battles this upcoming season after wrapping up the 2024 campaign with a 15-14 overall record and an appearance at the Southland Conference tournament for the first time since 2011.
"Very similar to last fall, we put a schedule together centered on where we are, not where we want to be," Apolinario said. "We all want immediate results. However, there is no magical formula for that, and it takes time to get it right."
The Cardinals have four tournaments on the schedule beginning with a trip to DeLand, Fla. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 29-30 where they will face Northern Illinois, Stetson and Southern Miss.
The second tournament is in New Orleans, La. as LU plays Tulane, Southern University and Louisiana Tech from Friday-Sunday, Sept. 5-7.
LU also travels to Memphis, Tenn. from Friday-Saturday, Sept. 12-13 to take on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Memphis and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Wrapping up the tournament schedule, the Cardinals host the Lamar Invitational Friday-Saturday, Sept. 19-20 with matches against Cal State Fullerton, Texas Southern and Abilene Christian.
Other home matches include Prairie View A&M (Sept. 2), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Sept. 27), Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 2), New Orleans (Oct. 4), Incarnate Word (Oct. 16), Houston Christian (Oct. 18), McNeese (Oct. 30), Nicholls (Nov. 1) and Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 13).
The schedule also features 19 road matches with nonconference games against Sam Houston (Sept. 9) and the University of Louisiana Monroe (Sept. 16).
LU added three new additions to the roster, which included two transfers, to help bolster up a program that returns 13 players from last fall.
"The key is that we can't stop growing. Year two will bring different challenges for our group. We will certainly be tested in many ways," Apolinario added. "We just can't let go of the rope. That will be huge for our growth. As a competitor, I look forward to seeing how we battle."
