BEAUMONT, Texas - The last week of the regular season for Lamar University (27-22) opens with the final 2025 home finale against Sam Houston (24-23) at the LU Softball Complex Tuesday. The first pitch is scheduled to be delivered at 5:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals dropped two of three in their most recent Southland Conference series against Houston Christian over the weekend.
Reagan Smith pitched a complete-game victory, 7-1, in the first game, allowing three hits and striking out three batters. The Huskies won the next two games by scores of 11-10 and 10-4 (9 inn.). As it stands, the Cardinals are tied for fifth with Stephen F. Austin and trail fourth-place UIW by a game and third place Nicholls by three.
Jayne's Series
Jayne Sepulveda batted .643 with nine hits and five RBIs in the series against HCU. She started the series with eight consecutive hits in the doubleheader Thursday and had a career-high four hits in each contest. This marked the ninth and 10th times a Cardinal recorded a four-hit game.

Sabrina Jolin pitched 5.1 innings against HCU to reach 100 innings in her collegiate career. She became the fourth Alaskan-born NCAA DI pitcher to achieve this mark, joining Nicci Ward (Villanova, 2008), Pauline Tufi (Louisiana Tech, 2017), and Daisy Page (Mississippi Valley State, 2022).

About the Bearkats
The Bearkats are 24-23 following a tough series against Liberty. Leading SHSU is Jenny Robinson, who sits on top of the team leaderboard in batting average (.365) and hits (42). Another member of the 40-hit club is Bella Perez, who has 31 RBIs and 11 homers, which includes the three-run homer that put the Bearkats up 3-1 against the Cardinals.
While pitcher Abigail Young took the loss for SHSU in the February meeting, she leads the Bearkats in ERA (1.78), complete games (seven), and is tied with six wins in the circle. Fellow pitcher Amy Abke is the team's strikeout leader with 71.
