BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University strengthened its backcourt with the addition of Eian Lowe (5-10, 155, Point Guard) announced head coach
Alvin Brooks Thursday afternoon. Lowe comes from high-powered Fort Bend Marshall High School where he guided the Buffaloes to three-straight 30-win seasons.
"We're very excited about the addition of Eian to our program," said Brooks. "He comes from a tremendously successful high school under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Ronnie Courtney. Eian will bring outstanding leadership skills to the team. An all-state selection, Eian has great court vision and is a tremendous passer."
Lowe led his high school squad to one of its best runs in school history. FB Marshall posted a 37-3 (.925) overall record advancing all the way to the 2025 UIL 5A-DII State title game for the first time since 2017, where he was named to the all-tournament squad. Over the course of the past three seasons, Lowe has played a pivotal role in leading the Buffaloes to an impressive 107-10 (.915) overall record.
A former district player of the year and 3-5A All-Region selection, Lowe received first-team all-city (according to the Houston Chronicle) and all-state honors this past season. His success on the court has been recognized on the international level where he competed for Team USA in the Philippine Championships. It marks the second time in his career he has been a part of a Philippine Championship squad as a member of Team USA.
"Eian's mother is from the Philippines, and for the past two years the United States has put together a team of players, with Filipino ancestry, to compete in the tournament," said Brooks. "Eian was selected for that team and was coached by former NBA legend Byron Scott who is also part Filipino."
Lowe comes from strong basketball bloodlines. His brother, Jaland, now plays at Kentucky – where Brooks' son is an assistant coach – and Lowe's father, Marland, was one of the top developers of basketball talent in the Houston area for years.
Lowe joins Christian Thomas (Forward, C.E. King HS) who signed with the Cardinals in November.
