THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls (15-20, 6-6 SLC) tallied eight runs in the bottom of the first to complete the sweep of Lamar University (18-16, 6-6 SLC) Saturday with an 11-3 victory. The loss drops LU into a tie for fifth in the Southland Conference standings.
The Cardinals, who finished with three hits for the game, scored their three runs in the top of the second inning on RBI doubles by
Trinity Brandon and
Sicily Windham.
Veronica Harrison grabbed the other hit on a single to center field in the third inning.
Kaylee Cuevas was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs on one hit while unable to record an out.
Big Red returns to the LU Softball Complex Tuesday for its second meeting against the University of Houston. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
