BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University (15-13, 3-3 SLC) seeks to end a three-game losing streak as it will return home to take on East Texas A&M (7-22, 3-3 SLC). The series opens with a Friday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. while Saturday will conclude with the first pitch being delivered at noon. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

Although LU took a 5-4 lead against Houston after the top of the fifth, the Cougars rallied to win Tuesday's contest 10-6. Sabrina Jolin, the second pitcher for LU, was handed the loss after going two-thirds of an inning allowing the go-ahead runs. Six Cardinals recorded a hit including a solo home run for Gracee Hess and a two-run double by Trinity Brandon.
 
Almost Three Comebacks
The Cardinals overcame two deficits of two runs or less against Houston. After trailing 2-0, Hess' solo homer and an RBI groundout by Sicily Windham tied the game at two. Then, down 4-2, LU rallied to lead following fifth inning doubles by Veronica Harrison and Brandon. When the Cougars led 7-5 going to the sixth, LU put two runners on for Jayne Sepulveda, who doubled in Emilee LaRue and Kalie Amos only for the latter to be ruled out at the plate following a successful challenge by Houston.

The Cardinals extended their undefeated streak against ETAMU by sweeping last season's series in Commerce. LU outscored the Lions 23-2 in the series. Brandon batted .363 with three RBIs in the series.

The Lions are 7-22 after being shut out by No. 1 Oklahoma in Norman Wednesday. Julia Sanchez, who leads East Texas with three wins and 53 strikeouts, was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 in the circle allowing four runs in 12 innings and striking out 12 batters. Maddie Cason (.313 BA) and Emma Rodrigues (.305 BA) each have 25 hits and 13 runs while Charli Anger leads the Lions with 17 RBIs.
