FRISCO, Texas — The Southland Conference office announced Monday afternoon that
Damian Ruiz was named a Southland Baseball Player of the Week, earning Hitter of the Week honors.
Ruiz finished 12 for 18 (.667) in five games last week with one home run, five doubles, one triple, five singles and seven RBIs.
Ruiz had five multi-hit games as he went 6 for 8 during a two-game sweep of North Dakota State, scoring six runs while also tallying a double, home run, triple, three singles and three RBIs.
In the 12-3 Game 2 win over North Dakota State, he was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3 for 3.
Against the University of Albany in Game 3, he finished 3 for 5 with two doubles, a single and two RBIs.
Ruiz went 6 for 10 against UAlbany with four doubles, two singles and four RBIs.
He is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak.
