BEAUMONT, Texas — It was another high-scoring affair at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
Trent Baker hit a grand slam to end the game in the eighth courtesy of the run rule, giving the Lamar University Cardinals a 15-2 win over the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Monday afternoon.
The Cardinals have now won six in a row as they have outscored their opponents, 71-14, in that span.
Brayden Evans got the Cards on the board with an RBI double to left center in the first.
Tab Tracy laid down a bunt single that setup an RBI double to right by
Zak Skinner.
Zane Spinn later brought in a run on a sacrifice fly to center.
Heladio Moreno cleared the bases with a two-RBI triple to center.
Hector Rodriguez then made the score 6-0 with a sacrifice fly to center.
The Golden Grizzlies erased the shutout in the fourth with an RBI ground out. They later cut the deficit to four in the fifth when a run scored on a fielder's choice.
Evans drilled an RBI triple to right center in the sixth to extend LU's lead to five.
Skinner sparked a four-run rally in the seventh with a leadoff solo home run to left. Moreno then scored on a wild pitch.
Ruiz doubled down the left field line to bring in
Bryce Grizzaffi, extending the lead to nine.
