BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Behind solid pitching and offense, the Lamar University Cardinals rebounded with a 13-3 win in eight innings during Game 3 on Sunday at Hardt Field.
The Cardinals took two out of three from California State University, Bakersfield.
Right out of the gate, Lamar University took a 2-0 lead on a two-RBI single by
Zak Skinner.
In the top of the fourth, the Cardinals pushed across six runs on six hits.
Easton Culp hit a two-RBI single to center while
Damian Ruiz delivered a two-RBI single to right.
Tab Tracy added to the rally with an RBI single and then Skinner came in the clutch once more when he singled to right center to drive in a run.
Tracy stayed hot at the plate in the fifth as he hit a two-RBI single to center to extend the Cardinals' lead to nine runs.
Heladio Moreno plated home
Reese Beheler on a grounder to second in the top of the sixth.
Ruiz had an RBI single to right and then Tracy hit a sacrifice fly to left to plate in Moreno to take a 10-run lead, ending the game early via the run-rule.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Moreno tallied two singles and a double to go 3 for 5.
- Tracy drove in four runs as he finished 2 for 2 with two singles and two walks.
- Tracy went 5 for 7 during the series with four RBIs.

- Mark Lopez, Reagan Weiblinger and Trent Baker each had one inning of relief. The trio combined to strikeout two batters and allow one hit.
- LU's pitching staff had 23 strikeouts for the weekend.
- The Cardinal batters drew 13 walks to finish with 30 for the series. Hector Rodriguez was walked five times during the series
WEST COAST
The Cardinals are now 10-1 against programs from the west coast since 2022. Since 1977, Lamar University is 17-15 against west coast opponents.
