Cards drop Game 2 to CSU Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The series is evened up.

The California State University, Bakersfield Roadrunners scored seven runs in the final three innings to break a 1-1 tie, taking an 8-1 victory over the Lamar University Cardinals at Hardt Field on Saturday evening.

Lamar University scored the first run of the contest in the top of the second.

Reese Beheler hit a leadoff single and then Zane Spinn drew a walk. Tab Tracy then moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt.

Hector Rodriguez grounded out to second to drive in Beheler.

CSU Bakersfield tied up the game in the bottom of the third with a leadoff solo home run.

The Roadrunners took a 5-1 lead in the seventh after tallying four hits.

  • The Cardinals were held to six hits.
  • Damian Ruiz, Zak Skinner and Beheler each went 1 for 4 with a single.
  • Spinn and Brayden Evans each finished 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
