BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University has advanced to the 2025 NCAA FCS Playoffs for the second time in school history, but due to the Thanksgiving holiday LU has elected to move Pete Rossomando's weekly radio show from Wednesday to Tuesday evening. The show which begins at 7 p.m. and airs live on Newstalk 560 KLVI, will still take place at The Patio located at the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center on campus. Should the Cardinals advance to the second round, the show would return to its normal Wednesday evening timeframe.
The move was made to accommodate fans who wanted to attend the radio show but also had holiday travel plans scheduled for Wednesday.
The Cardinals (8-4) were notified they were one of 24 teams to advance to the postseason and keep their dreams alive for a shot at an NCAA FCS National Championship during the NCAA Selection Show on ESPNU. Big Red's résumé was hard to deny with eight FCS wins and just one of eight schools with two top 25 wins and one of just five with multiple top 15 wins. The Cardinals entered the final week of the regular season ranked 19
th nationally.
The Cardinals will square off against 10
th-seeded Abilene Christian Saturday. The game is set for a noon kickoff from Wildcat Stadium.
Rossomando guided the Cardinals to a school-record (as a four-year institution) eight wins in 2025 and has more wins after three seasons than any other Lamar head coach after four seasons with the university.
