"We had a good week this week," said head coach
Janell O'Connor. "We have a new and young team. To see them come together and support each other, cheer for each other, and encourage each other was really fun. We did a little work each day to prepare and get us ready to improve the next and it worked. I'm excited for the year with this team. There are so many encouraging things from this event to use and grow upon as we move forward."
UC Irvine claimed the overall team championship shooting an 11-under-par 853, which defeated UC Riverside by six strokes. However, UCR's Sofia Varga edged out UCI's Alona Avery by one to win the individual championship.
Next week, LU will travel up north to Arlington, Texas for the UTA Maverick Classic. This will be a two-day tournament beginning on Monday and will be held at the Tierra Verde Golf Club.
