Islanders Too Much for Lamar

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defended its first-place standing in the Southland Conference Monday with a 7-0 decision against Lamar University. The Islanders, who were perfect in conference play leading into Monday's contest, dropped LU to 9-13 on the season and 2-5 in Southland Conference play.

A&M-Corpus Christi jumped out to an early lead in doubles play and held that momentum through singles. Lamar put up a strong fight from Megan Do (No. 2 singles), Elena Rubio (No. 3) and Saloni Tamang (No. 6), but the Islanders managed to win every match in straight sets.

The Cardinals will close out the regular season Wednesday when the face UTSA in San Antonio. The match against the Roadrunners will begin at noon in San Antonio.
