Pryor Honored Before Game, Anderson Scores 21 in LU Senior Night Victory

BEAUMONT, Texas – Junior Terry Anderson scored a game-high 21 points to lead Lamar University to a 78-68 victory over Houston Christian Wednesday evening as the Cardinals sent lone senior Chris Pryor out in style.

The victory keeps LU in the running for the league's No. 3 overall seed. LU needs Nicholls to lose its regular-season finale Thursday at Southeastern Louisiana four LU to secure the third seed.

Pryor, the team's lone senior, scored 15 points on 3-of-5 (.600) shooting from long range, with a rebound, three assists and two steals in his final home game. Anderson and Pryor were joined in double figures by 10 points each from Cody Pennebaker and Janko Bulajic.

The Cardinals were 31-of-63 (.492) from the field, including seven three-pointers. Lamar was 9-fo14 (.643) from the free throw line. The rebounds were tied at 37, but Big Red found a huge advantage in turnovers. Lamar forced HCU into 13 miscues which were cashed in for 19 points. LU turned ball over just nine times on the night.

The Cardinals also got a lift from its bench. Lamar's reserves scored 23 points, while HCU's bench was held to 10.

The Huskies shot better than 40 percent from the field (25-of-62) but struggled from long range converting just 4-of-18 (.222) attempts.

The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the Nicholls/Southeastern Louisiana contest Thursday to find out their final seeding for the Southland postseason tournament. Big Red is assured of a first-round bye and won't open postseason play until Monday.
