BEAUMONT, Texas – After dropping consecutive matches, Lamar University women's tennis team got back in the win column Tuesday with a three-point victory over North Dakota, 5-2, from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (7-5) had to rally from an early hole however after dropping the doubles point, but they came storming right back in singles.
Nouray Metwally tied the match up with her straight-sets victory over UND's Charlotte Bowles, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
Big Red snagged its first lead of the day when
Marika Mueller defeated Andrea Jansson, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 2 position. Lamar would go on to make it a 3-1 lead before the Fighting Hawks got back on the scoreboard but that would be their final point of the day as the Cardinals would close the match with victories at No. 1 (three-setter) and No. 4 singles for the final score.
The Cardinals return to action Thursday when they host NJIT. The match against the Highlanders is scheduled for a noon start from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
