Lamar Prepares for Midweek Contest at Baylor

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After going 2-1 in the season-opening Mobile Baseball Tournament, the Lamar University baseball team will look to continue the positive start to its eight-game road swing to open the year Tuesday. Next stop on the early-season road trip is Waco, Texas Tuesday against the Baylor Bears.

The Bears also opened the season with three games on the road facing Nebraska, Oregon and Tennessee in Arlington. Baylor (0-3) enters 2024 looking to improve a 20-35 (.360) campaign last season.

The first midweek contest of the 2024 campaign, the Cardinals are returning to Waco where they defeated Baylor last season. The Cardinals posted a 9-2 victory at Baylor last season. The all-time series between the two originally started during the 1954 season. The Cardinals trail the all-time series 32-48-1 (.401), a mark that includes a 13-28 record in Waco. The Cardinals are going in search of their first back-to-back wins in Waco since the 2012 season.

Tuesday's game is slated for a 4 p.m. first pitch and will be broadcast on the Big 12 Network via ESPN+.
