Promotion Schedule Set for 2023 Season

BEAUMONT, Texas – The promotion schedule for the 2023 season has been released. The Cardinals have six home games on the docket kicking off with No. 8 Idaho Thursday, Aug. 31st. The rest of the home schedule will include Lincoln (Calif.) University (Sept. 23), Northwestern State (Oct. 7), UIW (Oct. 28), Texas A&M-Commerce (Nov. 4) and McNeese (Nov. 18).
 
The season opener will serve as the Cardinals' White Out game. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive BOOMTOWN Rally towels. Prior to kick off, Lamar will have incoming freshmen do a 100-yard sprint across the gridiron before the team takes the field. Kickoff against the Vandals is set for 7 p.m.
 
Big Red will be back in town Saturday, Sept. 23rd, to host the Oaklanders at 7 p.m. That day will be 409 Day and the Centennial Game as Lamar celebrates its 100th year. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Centennial Coin. Lamar will also be honoring the 2022 Southland Conference Champion Cardinal soccer team as well.
 
Two weeks later the Demons will come to town for a 3 p.m. kick off. The game against Northwestern State will be the Pink Game and Letterwinners Day. Fans attending the game will receive Pink Cardinal Strong Thunder Stix while supplies last. Also, Lamar will be honor the 2023 SLC Champion Outdoor Track and Field team as well as the newest inductees into the Cardinal Hall of Honor.
 
Following the game against Northwestern State, the Cardinals won't return home until Oct. 28th against the league's other Cardinals, UIW. The game against UIW will serve as the Black Out game as well as Hall of Honor weekend. Fans will receive Black Thunder Stix when entering the stadium.
 
The Cardinals will host A&M-Commerce Saturday Nov. 4. It will be the first meeting between the two schools as Southland Conference opponents. That day will also highlight Homecoming week festivities on campus and serve as Military Appreciation.
 
The Red and White will close out the 2023 regular season Saturday Nov. 18 against rival McNeese. The annual Battle of the Border will serve as Senior Day and High School Band Day, with local area bands joining the LU Marching Band. Prior to the game LU will honor its 2023 Class of Seniors and fans will have the opportunity to complete their collection with the Go Cards – Red Thunder Stix.
 
All home games will be played at Provost Umphrey Stadium on the LU campus.
